This wasn't an election, it was a restraining order

That's how P.J. O'Rourke described the election in his Oct 23 column, They Hate Our Guts:

This is not an election on November 2. This is a restraining order. Power has been trapped, abused and exploited by Democrats. Go to the ballot box and put an end to this abusive relationship. And let’s not hear any nonsense about letting the Democrats off if they promise to get counseling.

And in the election, the people rejected the Democratic policies and their way of doing business. They refused to listen to the people, and to the extent practicable, the people fired them.

But even now, POTUS refuses to take responsibility. As The Hill put it,

The president largely dismissed the notion that Americans were rejecting his policies by giving the GOP an overwhelming midterm win and instead blamed high unemployment and a slow economic recovery for his party’s losses.

He still doesn't get it. He can be in denial, but this was a clear restraining order.
